Pharm-ERA doctoral candidates at EcotoxicoMicYR2025

Several Pharm-ERA Doctoral Candidate have been involved in the Third international webinar of young microbial ecotoxicology researchers : EcotoxicoMicYR 2025 organised by and for young microbial ecotoxicologists under the auspices of the EcotoxicoMic network.

Maria Sofia Agosti (Ph.D. Student at Beta Technological Center, Spain), Ioanna Gkoni (Ph.D. Student at INRAE RiverLy, France), and Alejandra Pérez Vázquez (Ph.D. Student at KREATiS, France) were part of the organizing committee, helping to make the conference a fruitful event for young researchers in environmental microbiology and ecotoxicology.

Additionally, our researchers presented their work to the international community:

Ioanna-EcotoxicoMicYR2025

Ioanna Gkoni gave an oral presentation on “Influence of antibiotics and microbial coalescence on sediment microbial communities’ functions and diversity.”

Zahra-EcotoxicoMicYR2025

Zahrasadat Alavikakhiki presented her research on “Acute toxicity evaluation of 12 pharmaceuticals on microbial functions of periphyton.”

ALMC Poster EcotoxicoMicYR2025

Ana Luisa Mejia Camacho delivered a poster flash presentation entitled “Fitness Costs Limit MDR E. coli Invasion but Not Gene Dissemination in Freshwater Sediment.”

Their participation underscores Pharm-ERA’s commitment to advancing the frontiers of microbial ecotoxicology and environmental microbiome research. By engaging in both the organisational and scientific dimensions of EcotoxicoMicYR 2025, our doctoral researchers not only disseminated their findings but also strengthened the connections between early-stage researchers in this rapidly evolving interdisciplinary domain.
